Donegal County Council Library Service is holding a series of history lectures across the county. The lectures entitled ‘Remembering Our Past Sharing Our Future’ and are based on the theme Ireland & Donegal in the revolutionary era 1912 – 1923.
The lectures will be delivered by Dr John O’Callaghan from St Angela’s College, Sligo. Dr O’ Callaghan's thesis concentrated on the 1912-1923 period and his teaching, research and publications concentrate on the revolutionary period and its commemoration. In his talk he will illustrate how key contentious events in that period were experienced by different communities and how they served as a starting point for the legacies that have contributed to latter-day relationships.
